Solomon on Sex - PDF Book Now Available

0 - Solomon on Sex - Portraint Cover 1

Sex dominates our identity.  Planted within us is a burning desire to passionately enjoy the opposite sex.  Unfortunately, for many, that burning desire is a fire raging out of control.

The average individual has their first sexual experience at age 16.  One-third of all children are aborted.  Of the children not aborted, one-third are born out of wedlock.  More money is spent each year by Americans on pornography than the combined revenues of ABC, NBC and CBS.  10% of Americans admit internet pornography addiction.

Since sex is out of control, the church often talks about sex as if it is an evil to be tamed rather than a pleasure to be enjoyed.  In church, when was the last time you heard sex portrayed in a positive light?

Wouldn’t it be great if God gave us an instruction manual on how to enjoy sex to God’s glory?  Thankfully, he did!  It is a book of the Bible called, the Song of Solomon.  The Song of Solomon is a collection of short poems that give us windows into the relationship between King Solomon and his first wife, the Shulammite.

In the Solomon on Sex book, we study this book line by line to unlock God’s plan for maximum sexual pleasure.

We also answer thirty-two common questions on sex and marital intimacy.

This book is available for free in PDF format from Christ 2R Culture - Books

James - Part 4 - Hoarding, Suffering & Healing - CD Album

0D - James - CD Album Photo

The Ministry Connections Center is now stocking "James - Hoarding, Suffering & Healing - CD Album" - $10

In this fourth section of James, we learn more ways faith is lived out in life. James warns us of inherent dangers of wealth and how quickly we can fall prey to the sins of hoarding and luxurious living (5:1-6). While some are tempted to sin through affluence, others are tempted to sin through the discouragement of poverty and trials that have no end. James teaches us how to make it through (5:7-11). Returning to his favorite topic, the tongue, James teaches us how easy it is to sin under pressure with our words as we learn the truth about swearing (5:12).

In the last portion of the book, James tells us to be people of prayer in all times about all things. Prayer is more potent than we realize. We learn how to practice prayer in serious situations, like a life threatening disease (5:13-16). Finally, James closes his letter by teaching us about the importance of prayer and confession in the life of the church. It is what keeps a church from tearing apart (5:16-20).

James - Part 3 - Speaking and Thinking - CD Album

0C - James - CD Album Photo

The Ministry Connections Center is now stocking "James - Speaking and Thinking - CD Album" - $10

Do Christians look at life in a different way? In this third section of James, we learn how Jesus changes the way Christians speak (3:1-12) and think (3:13-16). We learn how the Holy Spirit urges us to think about life with godly wisdom rather than the way others think with Earthly Wisdom. We see how this works itself out in some of the most difficult relational challenges, disagreements in the church (3:17-4:3).

James then helps us understand the repulsiveness of a heart that is unfaithful to Christ (4:4). While we are unfaithful, Christ is always willing to extend more grace than we have sin. The only prerequisite to receive God’s grace is that we must ask for it with humility. Approaching God with pride shuts off his grace like a faucet (4:5-6).

James shows us how to cultivate humility in our lives (4:7-10). He helps us understand how our pride causes us to slander others (4:11-12). To help us think with humility, James reminds us how we trust God for our daily needs (4:13-17).

In this third portion of James, discover how Christ changes the way we think.

Series Contents - 8 Audio CD's
  • James 3:1-12 - Weapon of Mass Destruction

James - Part 2 - Hearing and Doing - CD Album

0B - James - CD Album - Photo

The Ministry Connections Center is now stocking "James - Hearing and Doing - CD Album" - $10

Are you a Christian who attends weekly worship? Each week do you grow in what you know, but nothing really changes? Is there more to the Christian life than personal ethics and Bible trivia? Do we have a responsibility for others? What happens when we ignore someone in need?

In this series, we explore the connection between the Christian faith and everyday life. Beginning with the importance of getting our anger under control, we learn that the Christian life involves treating others the way we would like to be treated. It means using our freedom in Christ to love others, especially Christian brothers and sisters in need.

James then moves from loving those in need to loving one another. What about favoritism in the church? While the world caters to the rich, attractive and upwardly-mobile, the church is to be a place where everyone treats others the way they would like to be treated. That is faith in action. Love across racial, age and economic lines is a sign the spirit of Christ is alive among the people.

Faith is more than knowledge, it is practical love for others. Has your Christian life become just more information? James speaks a breath of fresh air as he shows us what it means to put our faith into life.

Series Contents - 7 Audio CD's
  • James 1:19-21 - Anger in My Trial
  • James 1:22-25 - Do Something!

James Part 1 - Trials and Temptation CD Album

0A - James - CD Album Cover - Web

The Faith E Free Resource Center is now stocking James - Trials and Temptations - CD Album - $10

Life is filled with trials: cancer, financial disaster, depression, the rejection of someone we love, and lingering health issues. If God loves us so much, why doesn’t he care enough to shelter us from life’s problems? In the first portion of the book of James, we find the answer. It is because God loves us that he allows trials into our life to mature us in Christ. According to the Bible, the spiritual maturity, which the trials of the Christian life produce, is of greater worth than anything this world can offer.

In this series, we learn how to navigate our trials and receive the maturity God intends for us. With each trial, there is a difficult path of obedience, which will bring about the maturity God is seeking to produce. Next to the path of obedience, an alternate path will present itself in a seductive way. This is the path of temptation to sin in our trial. This path derails the maturity God wants to give. In this series, we learn how to steer clear of the sinful temptations that come with trials. We learn how to face one of the most audacious trials, financial loss. We learn what to do when we find ourselves in the slough of despondency because we can not imagine God’s good purpose in our present difficulties.

Are you in the middle of a trial? James has honest answers to your questions about how to make it through.

Series Contents - 6 Audio CD's
  • James 1:1-4 - How to have joy in a trial
  • James 1:5-8 - Get Wisdom!

The Goodness of God - Congregational Book

productimage-picture-goodness-god-91_jpg_175x284_q85

In our Reasons to Believe your Bible series, I discovered we are a congregation of readers. We sold 200 copies of Dr. Tribelhorn's book, My Professor Says the Bible is a Myth. Learning from that, I hope to feature a key book to supplement future teaching series at the Resource Center.

For James - Part 1 - Trials and Temptations, we are featuring The Goodness of God by Randy Alcorn. This is an excellent and readable book dealing with the problem of suffering and pain to supplement what we are learning in the first portion of the book of James.. Alcorn avoids superficial or sentimental responses, and instead presses forward boldly to explore all the troubling doubts and questions that agitate within us when we confront suffering and evil. The issues are far from simple, the answers far from easy—but Alcorn shows how the way of suffering—a path that Jesus himself followed more than anyone else—can ultimately become a journey into wholeness and even logic-defying joy.
