James 2:1-8 - The Folly of Favoritism




We all have our favorite sports team. Some of us are fans of Iowa, others are fans of Iowa State. Playing favorites on the field is one thing but playing favorites in the church is a different matter. In our culture, we celebrate, beauty, wealth and athletic skills. We fawn over the successful and ignore the rest. According to James, favoritism may be part of our culture but it is must not be part of the church. In God's eyes, it is nothing less that sin.
