Caleb - Finishing Well

edge

In the finals of the 2004 Olympics, Perdita Felicien of Canada tripped on her first hurdle and then fell into the adjacent lane taking out Irina Shevchenko of Russia. Felicien was ranked number one in the world when she started, but her race ended in defeat. The Christian life is also described as a race. What does it take not just to start but also to finish the Christian life well? Caleb was one of only two in the Exodus generation to see the Promised Land. Join us as we learn from his life about how to start and finish life well.

Philippians 4:1-9 - Christian Endurance

The Indy 500 is the largest sporting venue in the world. It has a seating capacity over 235,000. Add infield seating capacity, and they can handle over 400,000 people. While everyone loves a good race, the only way you can place in a race is you need to finish the race. Blowing an engine or crashing into a wall leaves you with nothing. The Christian life is like the Indy 500. What matters more than starting the Christian life is enduring to the end and finishing the Christian life. As Paul begins to wind up his letter to the Philippians, he gives them five hurdles they need to conquer if they are going to stand firm in Christ for the long haul. They are the same challenges we face if we want to be faithful to Jesus until the end of our days. Join us as we learn how to stand strong for Christ until we finish the race of life.

Genesis 47:13-31 - Scarcity and Prosperity in Egypt

If you were in charge of the country, how would you lead? What programs would you create? What kind of help would you offer? As we continue our study of Joseph's life, the Bible steps away from the story of the relationship between Joseph and his brothers and looks at how Joseph managed a nation in crisis for 17 years. Along the way, we learn practical insights on how to be a good manager of people entrusted to our care.

1 Peter 3:13-17 - How Do I Endure Unjust Suffering?

People can be downright evil. Either for reasons unknown to us, or because of our faith in Christ, some people enjoy doing evil toward us. They posture themselves as our enemy. How should we treat them? How do we try and stop their hate-filled words and actions? How do we cope with the pressure when the suffering doesn't stop? These are some of the important questions we answer in our study.
